August films / películas de agosto

I usually watch at least a dozen movies every month, but August was a really busy month for me as I had to get ready to move to Milwaukee. I've been in Wisconsin's largest city for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and relax.

That's why the only movie I've seen this month is The Never Ending Story (1984), directed by Wolfgang Petersen and based on Michael Ende's novel. I read the book many years ago and I remember I was very fond of it. The idea of interacting with fantasy (in this case represented by the mythical kingdom of Fantasia) was very appealing to me. The filmic version may have a few flaws but overall I'd say it's a fitting homage to Ende's literary work. The core message continues to be the necessity to preserve our ability to dream and imagine new worlds. The cast includes Barret Oliver, Noah Hathaway and Tami Stronach.
